The students, in turn, shared their perspectives and expectations from the Interim Budget, complemented by showcasing infographics in the Greenhouse. 1st February 2024- Budget Live
On February 1st, 2024, Garden City University’s School of Commerce and Management hosted a live stream event to analyze Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s interim budget presentation. The budget, designed as an interim measure ahead of upcoming general elections, prioritized fiscal consolidation and continued capital expenditures while emphasizing the empowerment of women and youth. It outlined a multifaceted economic management strategy, including tax reforms, digital public infrastructure, and sector-specific projects for agriculture, healthcare, education, and skill development, laying the groundwork for a developed India by 2047. In general, the speech was enlightening and an enriching experience for students. The live streaming provided real-time information to the students to know about the efforts taken up by the Indian government for laying the foundation for a prosperous and advanced India. The ability of the pupils to comprehend how the government promotes inclusive development and balanced economic growth was beneficial.
6th February 2024- Post Budget symposium
The School of Commerce and Management at Garden City University recently organized a thought-provoking Post-Budget Symposium on February 6, 2024, held in the University Auditorium. The symposium was a timely response to the Interim Budget 2024 presented by India’s Finance Minister on February 1, 2024, and aimed to shed light on its implications across various sectors.
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries from different sectors, adding immense value to the discussions. Notable figures included Mr. Kumar Ravi FCA, a Chartered Accountant and Former President of FKCCI; Mr. Girish Hampali, Program Director, Global Delivery at Infosys Ltd.; Mr. Chavali Narayan, Partner at SRBC & Associates LLP; Adv. Nirmal Mathew, Senior Consultant at Ernst & Young; Er. H R Girish, Honorary Chairman-ICI/Techno-Legal Consultant-Construction & Infrastructure; and Mr. Prakash Mandoth, President of the Federation of Karnataka Traders Association.
